September already! It’s already getting cooler, darker: the days are definitely getting shorter.
I’m still hoping we may get a few more weekends of warmth to keep me going for a little longer, but with Hallowe’en just around the corner, there’s no denying autumn is well on its way ☹
So we’ve started thinking about heating the house in winter. We have a log fire which to be honest, gets forgotten about over the summer.
But now’s the time we’re starting to get ready for using it when the time comes:
The chimney has been swept to allow maximum efficiency
Logs have been ordered and stacked
We’ve even brought some logs in ready to thoroughly dry out so the fire will be warm and welcoming straight away
Getting the logs in now doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be any cheaper (although the basic principles of economics mean that if demand is high and supply is low, the prices are likely to increase. And this is more likely to happen when everyone is cold and wants to light their fires!) but it means we’re prepared and don’t have to worry about “catching up” when the time comes.
Because, just like retirement, winter doesn’t necessarily just “appear” on a certain day.
Being prepared means you can be more flexible and you don’t feel under pressure.
It helps give you peace of mind.
If you’d like to start preparing yourself for a future retirement (even though you may not want that to be any time soon) then why not get in touch so we can start discussing what you can do now?
After all, we don’t want to be “left out in the cold”, do we? 😉
